So this summer my little sister will be getting married. I am so excited!!! Even more excited to say that she has asked me to take her photos. Dan and Sara are the cutest couple I can’t wait to see them grow together.
Together they complete each other…and yes I know that sounds a bit cheesy…but I think that’s how I would describe them. Cheesy, beautiful, thoughtful, ambitious and I could go on and on, but I won’t. All I will say is that I wish them many years ahead in happiness, love, life, and family. I am so proud of you my sister and happy to be able to be a part of your day.
So to start off all the festivities, this February past my Step-mom threw Sara(bride to be, and infamous beautiful sister) the most incredible wedding shower I have ever seen.
So I packed up all my things and took off on my journey with Wyatt To Sault Ste. Marie, which is where I am from. Sault Ste. Marie is a lovely city filled with many, many, many Italians. I have often joked that if you are not Italian in Sault Ste. Marie you have to be Italian by osmosis. There are so many wonderful things I can say about being from the Soo. I will have to keep that for another time though.
On this always-interesting journey it was our mission to throw the most beautiful and unforgettable shower anyone has ever seen. So I pulled into my parents driveway and we excitedly jumped out of the vehicle carrying all our bags, diapers, toys, cloths and baby, stumbled into the house to the smell of home cooked food and the boisterous sounds of a big Italian family. We were promptly greeted by hugs and kissed loud voices and a lot of unorganized excitement, hand gestures and all.
After all the excitement had died down talk of the pending shower commenced. What the plan was, how the decorations would look, who was to do what and when. My Step-mom(Anna) was on a mission, like the good Italian mother she is, she had prepared for days, no months, for this event. Tirelessly cooking and organizing fingers bleeding from all the amazing work she had done. (or so I think that might be something she would say. There was no blood though) Her dream had come to fruition.
The day of the shower was here. We eagerly got out of bed and piled all the decorations and gifts and food into the car. My dad helped us do this but for the most part he had been deemed official babysitter for the next few days. Anna and I arrived at the hall to start our decorating. Anna had planned this to a T. The bridesmaids were to arrive at there designated times scattered throughout the morning. They each had a task at hand and I was to do whatever Anna told me to do. In amongst all the commotion my parents very nice, very expensive, and very new hybrid car decided it was not going to start anymore. Super inconvenient and the story of my parents life because very odd mishaps have plagued them for years. If you new them this would just be a minor blip in the story of their lives. So we pressed on and a short call to supper Dad and he came to save the day. Thanks Dad!!!
The morning went off with only that minor car blip and for the most part went very smoothly. My sister did call me incessantly giving me orders and direction about things that were really not on my radar. As I said earlier I was to do what Anna told me to do and I was not going to falter from her plan. A stressed out Italian mama bear is not a woman you want to meet in the bush without some sort of dart gun. This had to be perfect!!!
I may have gone off on a bit of a tangent but the point of all this is that my Step-mom is passionate to say the least and we love her wholeheartedly. And everyone did an amazing job to celebrate an amazing person who has done so much for so many people. I only had a tiny part in this but I got to see all the love Sara has in her life and I believe that everyone left there little piece of there heart just for her.
The end result was PERFECTION!!!
